A brief description of the things we have done this
41 Club year 2001 - 2002

April saw the AGM at the Redbrook Hunting Lodge Hotel, Lots of noise, wine, beer, and fellowship. Reports were made, Officers were inducted, badges of office moved on. The meeting did not live up to recent years by failing to run into a second day, finishing as it did at midnight. Click here for the pictures

May and a trip to the site of the new by-pass around No-Mans-Heath. The engineers gave us a very interesting talk before taking us around part of the new road explaining all as they went. A very interesting evening followed by good food fellowship and beer in the Horse and Jokey in town. Click here for the pictures

June and we were all Fly Fishing at the 17 acre Dearnford Hall Trout lake, The webmaster, not known for his fishing skills had two bites but regrettably no fish, however about a third of our number did land fine fish and the webmaster was sufficiently enthralled that although he remembered to take his camera his forgot to use it! B.B.Q. followed, excellent night.

July's meeting was describe as 'Bogtrotting' on the card and whilst there was very little 'trotting' there was most certainly a 'bog' Whixall Moss to be precise now an SSSI and the home of the greatest variety of birds, plants and insects that you can imagine, twenty seven species of dragonfly alone! Our walking tour was is the company of Jane the site warden and she was able to tell us all about the history of the site as well as the names of the many rare plants, insects and birds. One of the most fascinating evenings we have had! Click here for the pictures

August and the webmaster is on his holidays after his younger daughter has just been married!

September and we were at Teracopia clay pot factory at Wrexham, very interesting tour showing how the pots are thrown by machine and by hand followed by Thai food cooked in the factory. Great night. Click her for the pictures

Also in September, the 'Hinge Binge' trophy was contested at the Whitchurch swimming pool. Organised by Ladies Circle the event was won by Table (mainly because it was there turn!) Click here for the pictures

October and 41 Club were at the climbing wall in Chester, Regrettably the webmaster was unable to attend so no pics!

November Great fun, Peter 'Muppet' Horton was the guest speaker,
a night of old jokes, good food, good beer and ancient 41er's! Click her for the pictures

December Joint with Table the Christmas meeting was held at the Redbrook Hunting Lodge Click here for the pictures

January Burns Night, John Roe said the Selkirk grace and addressed a wonderfully large Haggis in the traditional manner. The evening was rounded off with a suitably irreverent Limerick competition. Click here for pictures

March OK so this was going to be a strange one! A visit to a factory that roasts and sells coffee followed by a trip to a Mongolian bar-b-que!

First the coffee, yours truly had always thought that coffee came in glass jars, was made in an instant and the greatest pleasure was to be had by plunging a teaspoon through the paper seal thingy for the first time. Wrong. Andy buys his coffee on the open market (Apparently coffee is only next to oil in value traded) and then roasts it, blends it and packs it for his own shops and caterers and competitors alike. Coffee from all over the world including China which does not grow coffee! But that's another story! He roasted coffee for us and enplaned a huge amount about his very interesting business. Then the food, down to Shrewsbury to a Mongolian Bar-b-que, why Mongolian I have no idea! but great fun, choose your ingredients hand them to the chef and wait as he cooks it moving it around the huge grill plate until it is about to fall off, at which point he scrapes it off the grill onto your plate, add your own selection of carbohydrate i.e. rice, noodles or pasta and eat! then go back as often as you like, this is the sort of eating that sorts the men from the Tablers! A fun evening all round. Pictures
