Thursday evening and Lino
(having collected me from the airport) very kindly
takes
Pauli and Marija (from Finland) and myself into
San Marino and up into the old town
were, after a tour of the three castles, we all
enjoyed a wonderful meal in the restaurant
used by San Marino Round Table with fabulous views
of the sun setting over the mountains!
Friday evening and all the
international delegates are registering at the conference
hotel, now I get to meet with GEE and Emile for
the first time and also Renato and Max .
After registration we all attended the welcome party
at the boat club, a beautiful fish
meal with lots of wine and Grappa!
After attending the opening
of the AGM at the conference hotel all the international
delegates were taken by bus on a guided tour of
Rimini before returning to the
conference hotel for the 'Piadina' party. Piadina
is local only to Rimini and is thin
unleven bread, not unlike a pancake, covered with
cheese or ham etc. and then covered
with a secondPiadina and served like a slice of
pizza.
Saturday evening and into
the night, first the international webmasters had
a short
meeting beforeattending the banner exchange then
on to the main event the Presidents
formal banquet, I lost count of the courses during
the meal all accompanied with
lots of wine and after the raffle (more wine!) there
was a seemingly endless supply of
Grappa. The surprise of the night was the appearance
of two beautiful Brazilian samba
dancers who soon had all the dignitaries on their
feet!
I am told that on
special occasions, the
sun shines in Rimini!
